Twitch is the biggest live streaming platform for gamers with a huge community of streamers and viewers. Many of those videos are not only fun to watch but can be informative and helpful. Unlike traditional television, many of these video broadcasts are available to watch on demand after the live stream has finished. This means that you can rewatch them at any time and even save them to your computer for later use.
If you’re a streamer or just interested in watching the broadcasts of other people on the platform, it may be useful to know how to Save videos from Twitch so that you can view them offline at any time. Fortunately, there are a few different ways to do this including using Twitch’s own video editor or third-party programs such as 4K Video Downloader.
How to save a Twitch video
The easiest way to save a stream is by creating a highlight in Twitch’s built-in video editor. To do this, hover over the video you want to save and click the clapperboard icon on the bottom right. This will open a panel that lets you pick exactly which part of the VOD you want to save. To do this, you can stretch the yellow bar at the bottom to cover the entire timeline or use the Start and End options to pick the Highlight’s boundaries more precisely. Once you’re satisfied with your selection, click Publish Highlights near the middle of the page.
You can also create highlights in your own VODs by heading to your Creator Dashboard and clicking Content in the left sidebar and then Video Producer. If you’re not seeing any VODs that you can highlight, make sure that the dropdown at the top of your dashboard is set to Past Broadcasts instead of All Videos.
Once you’ve created a highlight, it will be saved in your Highlights section forever. If you want to move a highlight to another section of your VOD, you can do so by clicking the three dots on the clip and selecting Move to Another Section. Alternatively, you can delete a highlight by going to your Highlights section and clicking the trash can icon.
If you want to save a VOD for longer than 14 days, Twitch allows you to do so by turning on Archive Uploads in your Settings. This will automatically upload your VODs to YouTube for you, so they’re always there in case you ever want to reference them again. Alternatively, you can also download other people’s broadcasts with a third-party program such as Twitch Leecher.
